  1. Art in the Open 2010

    Ireland’s plein air painting festival

    30th July – 1st August

    Wexford, Ireland

    Dear Andrew,

Art in the Open is a plein air painting festival, an opportunity to meet and paint alongside other artists over the August public holiday weekend. In its third year, this event is characterised by convivial surroundings, open exchange between artists and the public and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. This year, the painting venues will include both Wexford Town and Enniscorthy which celebrates 1500 years since its founding by St. Senan. The work will feature in an exhibition which opens on Monday 2nd August and several significant sponsored awards, including a mayoral award, will be made.

There will also be demonstrations and some informal paint-outs hosted by several local painters to interesting painting sites around the County Wexford in the days before and after the weekend itself. All are welcome to take part in this festival.

The festival committee is currently seeking applications from accomplished outdoor painters for consideration as Guest Artists. These are a small number of artists who will commit to attend the event for at least two of the three main painting days (see dates above) and provide 4 images of plein air paintings done since December 2008 and other details which we may use in publicity for the event. This publicity would include a festival brochure to be printed in April, news media etc. In return, the festival committee offer up to 5 nights accommodation per artist and a guarantee that up to three paintings done during festival will be displayed in the festival exhibition, held in White’s Hotel, Wexford. We hope that you will consider taking part in this year’s festival.

If you would like to apply to be considered as a Guest Artist, guidelines, terms and an application form are available here: Application Form download.

  3. Hi Andrew!... Thanks for your recent visit to my site and for your kind comments as well.

I love your panoramas such as this one... very difficult task to deliver just the right atmospheric effects and sufficient detail to say "just the right thing"... in three or less hours!

I particularly enjoyed "Snow in Edington"... lovely snow and shadow effects in that one!

    Good Painting!
    Warm regards,
    Bruce

PS I hadn't realized that I had missed becoming a Follower... "I" am on board now!
